Where do I live? Exploring animals and their homes
Using animals to learn sorting and categorizing.
Setup
0-3 minutes
Time required
10 minutes
Materials
Animal language cards, pictures of different animals or toy animals.
How to Play
Encourage your child to sort the animal cards according to the habitat (or home) that the animal lives in. Encourage the child to sort the animals according to farm, woods, tundra, jungle, or ocean.
Some Tips
Use animals and habitats that are more familiar to your child. If introducing new animals only do 1 at a time.
Make it Easier
Have similar habitats on the same colour of paper.
Make it Harder
Talk about why the animals live in different habitats, the food available, the types of homes (e.g., den versus trees) that they live in.
